The "Ou Rin kou" medaka is a new strain that emerged as a spontaneous mutation in 2024, resulting from breeding the third-generation Tōtenkō (F3). It retains the characteristic body shape of Tōu Ten Kō, but with a unique pink coloration and golden-tipped fins. Only five such individuals were born. The fish described here are the F2 generation, bred from those five original specimens, and started to appear in early 2025.
******* The term HIKARI Body type *******
Originated from the migration of iridophore cells from the abdomen to the back, causing the fish to appear luminous when viewed from above.
Nowadays, since there are Hikari body types without this luminescence, identification is based on the tail and dorsal fins.
When breeding two Hikari body types, 99% of the offspring display the Hikari phenotype, making it a safe choice for beginners. Additionally, a high frequency of individuals with curved bones is another characteristic feature.
